Historical Information
In September 1955, Gastonia Lodge #369 and Holland Memorial Lodge #668 gave their consent for a new lodge to be formed in Gastonia. At that time, thirty-three Master Masons from both lodges joined together to form the new lodge. They were granted a dispensation to begin work by Most Worshipful Brother Charles H. Pugh, the sitting Grand Master and a prominent local physician, to form King Solomon Lodge UD. MW Brother Pugh later became an honorary member of the new lodge.
In April 1956, Grand Master John C. Vance issued King Solomon Lodge #704 its charter. Worshipful Brother Marcus McCluney, a Past Master of Gastonia Lodge #369, was King Solomon Lodge’s first Worshipful Master. There were four members in the first class. Within its first year, the new lodge raised a total of nine new Master Masons.
The current WM of King Solomon Lodge #704 is Brother W. Steven Willis.
